When a WATS Client is registered on the server, it is identified using the computers primary network card's mac address. This ID is used to identify the source or "origin" of a report delivered using this client. When a WATS Client is being moved in the hierarchy in the system manager, all reports, historical and future will follow that client.
If the virtual levels is being used to limit access to users, then this may be an unwanted behavior. Depending on the case, it may be desirable that the historical reports are left in the previous level, while future reports are placed in the new level.
This can be done by duplicating the client, leaving a disconnected/retired version in the old level, and moving the new to its new level. Since a client's name must be unique, we need to rename the retired version.
To achive this, you will need to raise a ticket to the WATS Support team. Please include the wats.com instancename and the client name.
